Sign up today for the August 28 coast trip to the Coos Bay area!

Sunset at Cape Arago, Photo: Ben NievesOn Saturday, August 28, Our Ocean will host an expedition to the Cape Arago area near Coos Bay, the third of this summer's series of four coastal field trips to proposed marine reserve sites. This trip will bring together inland and coastal residents for a day of fun and learning!

Come join us to tour one of these spectacularly beautiful and ecologically important areas that are under consideration for designation as marine reserves and spend a long summer day with like-minded friends! This trip will feature talks by marine scientists and members of the local community team who can answer your questions and provide insight into the marine reserve process.

Participants will have the opportunity to stay in college dormitory accommodations in Coos Bay on Friday evening, August 27, so that they are on the south coast and ready to start the day on Saturday morning! Our Ocean will provide carpooling in vans leaving from Eugene, Roseburg and Ashland on Friday evening, August 27. Participants are also welcome to drive themselves to the Coos Bay area on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Our Ocean will provide meals from local businesses, including locally caught seafood, on Saturday. The vans will leave the Coos Bay area at 4:30pm on Saturday afternoon.

There is no cost for the August 27-28 trip, but RSVPs are required. Our Ocean’s first two field trips this summer filled up completely, so RSVP below today!

IMPORTANT: Participants choosing to spend the night in the dormitory in Coos Bay should bring their own towel, sleeping bag and pillow!

Don't forget the trip to the Cape Arago area is the third in a series of four coast trips Our Ocean is hosting this summer and fall! Details and RSVP information for the September 18 trip to Cascade Head will be available soon.
